Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Life has been a whirlwind for me lately with school and work taking off. I've kept my eyes on the news recently, watching the things that are happening around our country. So far, it's all been expected. I've also had my eyes on the weather events happening here in America. There have been several snow storms and destruction following those storms. My heart goes out to the families affected by those storms, especially the families still recovering in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. I'll list links at the bottom of this post if you'd like to look into how you can help those people.

Next order of business, let me shift over to a more personal matter. Recently I had the opportunity to visit Tennessee. It was my first time getting to visit it, and its lovely. The mountains are beautiful and we got dustings of snow throughout the week I was there. Due to the weather, we ended up having our plans rearranged because of the ice on the roads. While unfortunate that our plans were canceled, it was still a lovely trip seeing my friends and spending time with them. I bought a lot of books since I thoroughly enjoy reading, as well as some of the best macarons I have ever tasted. While there, we visited several bookstores including a very unique store filled with used books, CD's, games, and various other knickknacks. I enjoyed exploring Tennessee and seeing the mountains and sights while there. If you have a chance to visit, I absolutely recommend going!

One of the books I purchased on my trip was Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Before hand I had seen the movie which I enjoyed but hadn't read the book but I found it in one of the many bookstores I visited while in Tennessee and bought it along with my other selection. I've been reading it over the last two weeks and I love it. Its a wonderful love story between Henry the Prince of England and Alex the son of the President of the United States. I wont give away to many details but I do highly recommend it if you enjoy a good love story that's funny, sweet, heartwarming and colorful. I ended up bringing home around 16 books in total and now need a new bookshelf.

I hope everyone is having a lovely New Year and had wonderful holidays throughout the winter break. It's been a wild few months for me, but I have enjoyed them despite the chaos. I wish everyone a lovely 2025, and hopefully we can stand together to make it through. There is a lot of uncertainty, but I like to believe we can make it through together.
