A Sad Day For America

I have been in tears all day. My heart is broken for our community, our county, and our nation. Democracy has spoken, and their opinions are valid. However, this has opened the gateway for so much destruction for our entire planet. So many people will die due to this decision. So many women, children, trans people, gay people, black people, and other races are in danger now because of this. Our planet is in danger now because of this. After all of the officials that worked with Donald Trump previously said not to let this man in, that he was a dictator and a cruel man. People still voted him in. 71 million people still voted him in. They voted in a convicted felon- a rapist, into office. If you are a felon, you are not allowed to vote, but he was. If you are a convicted felon it affects your prospects of getting a job, yet he was voted into the biggest most powerful job in the United States. The entire world is looking at us in shock right now. To say I'm distraught is an understatement.

My heart is shattered for our country. This truly is a heart breaking day. My entire family voted against my rights, and I'm not sure how I'm going to live with this information. People are commenting on my Facebook, on my posts about equality defending him. A friend of mine openly admitted he wanted Donald Trump to win, and he's gay. I made a post about how "agreeing to disagree" only applies if the opinion isn't a form of hate. One person responded that Democrats were "always conditional". They see our human rights and wanting to be treated with basic respect as a condition.

People were more worried about the price of gas than human rights. People did not want a woman president. Kamala Harris ran a beautiful campaign, and even held that grace in her consolation speech. She congratulated her opponent and spoke of a peaceful transfer of power. She encouraged her supporters that we would be okay, that this was simply the beginning and that we would not stop fighting for equality and peace. She is right.

We will not stop fighting for what is right. We will not let them silence us. We may have lost this time, but its only one election. There is strength in unity and we will stand together and work for a brighter future. To the people struggling, please breathe. Allow yourself to feel your emotions. Breathe and grieve our loss, but do not back down. When we have grieved, we will rise again from the ashes and continue to fight for our freedom and our nation. This is not over. I see you. You are loved. Remember, 67,878,826 people voted for your rights. 67,878,826 people voted for you, they see you. We see you. You are not alone. We will make it through this together.

If you or someone you know is struggling and becoming a threat to themselves, please reach out for help. We are in this together.
